Rapid technological change has spawned a new order in the field of data communications. Application of increasingly sophisticated applications that require Accuracy and Speed in data processing that will directly affect the need for greater bandwidth.

Data Center is a facility that is used to place the computer system and its associated components, such as telecommunications and data storage systems. The facility typically includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (eg, air conditioning, ventilation), fire prevention, as well as physical security devices.

Based on the function, the data center is divided into two general categories, such as :

  1. Internet Data Center : only to support Internet-related applications, usually built and operated by the service provider or company that has a business model based on Internet commerce.
  2. Corporate/Enterprise Data Center : supports all the functions that enable various business models runs on Internet, intranet, and both of them..

To answer this need, in accordance with the original purpose of this proposal is made ​​which is expected to form a network infrastructure that can accommodate high bandwidth to cope with the growth of data traffic is quite high.

Data Center can be built in a single room in a building, one floor or more, or all the floors in one building. The device server in the Data Center are usually placed in a 19-inch rack cabinet, except for some types of servers such as mainframe computers and storage devices, usually placed dedicated, as device dimensions are almost identical to the dimensions of the rack.

In this server room design, keep in mind some basic points as the cornerstone in the design.

  1. Precision Air Conditioning (PAC)
  2. Backup Power (UPS)
  3. Raise Floor
  4. Fire Suppression
  5. Security System (Access Control & CCTV)

Layout Data Center

Air conditioning is used to keep the room cool and comes under the control of humidity. Room temperature is maintained at a temperature of about 20-22 degrees Celsius (about 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit). The main function of the conditioning system is a data center to keep the server components work in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications for temperature and humidity parameters. This is important because every electronic components generate heat that works that may cause the device is not working if not refrigerated.

Air conditioning systems also keep the humidity parameter between 35% – 65%. Humidity is too high can lead to condensation, and too low will cause electro-static which can cause damage to electronic components. Redundancy in the Air Conditioning system is Necessary to anticipate the process of maintenance and upkeep as well as damage to the AC device.

2. Backup Power

Backup power through one or more uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and diesel generators. To maintain the single points of failure, all elements including system backup electrical system is duplicated with the same system (System A and System B), and any server or device connected to both systems.

3. Flooring System (Raised Floor)

A Data Center usually uses raised flooring system to a height of up to 60 cm (2 ft). Raise Floor is a plenum for air circulation under the floor and is part of the air conditioning system, but it also can be used as a place for wiring system for electrical systems and data connectivity systems.

Dimensions of each floor is 600 x 600 mm, removable, modular panels with finishing high-pressure lamination (HPL) complete with stringers and pedestals. Stringer makes the installation of floor panels raise more sturdy and stable. Raise floor panel is easy to be appointed or removed by using the lifter raise floor.

Raise the top layer of the panel using a high pressure laminated floor, stringers should be easy to dismantle pairs without using a specific tool.

4. Fire Suppression System

Fire Suppression / extinguishing system, the System as a system in anticipation of disturbances originating from the heat, smoke and fire. These fire extinguishing systems using gas FM 200 and the device is safe for humans as well as efficient, and does not require a large space and high air pressure to the storage device.

Interealasi extinguishing system with sub-system has the following:

Control panel should be able to monitor the alarm, releasing signal, system status, supervision circuit or wiring system, and must have an internal battery backup.

 

5. Security System 

Security systems including CCTV and Access Control System to maintain the security of Data Centre. Close Circuit Television System (CCTV) were installed to monitor, including server space to record the activity inside. CCTV components include:

Video Monitoring, Is a tool to monitor and control the activities of all the cameras are installed at data center and record the activity recorded by the camera.

Indoor Camera, A recorder terminal activity in the Data Centre. The camera is connected to a monitoring system.

TV Monitor Equipment, To complement this system required a TV monitor that serves to show the activities or events. TV monitors that are marketed are placed in the control room.

Access Control, Access Control is installed at the entrance / door to limit personnel access to the Data Center can be. There are several types of Access Control, among others, Finger Reader, Proximity Reader, Retina (Eye) Reader and others.

6. Data Center Layout
